Dubai: the city that rose from the sands of the Emirati Desert to become a soaring glass metropolis of business, entertainment, shopping, and dining in just 10 years. The ultra-modern city is home to some incredible feats of architecture including the Dubai Frame, the Burj Al Arab, and the Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest building reaching 830 metres into the sky. It has even extended itself into the Persian Gulf by creating ingenious man-made islands, many of which are enviable hotel resorts complete with top-class golf courses and waterparks. With almost year-round sun and a sandy coastline, Dubai is a divine destination for those who can’t choose between a beach or city vacation. And whilst it may be ultra-modern, traditional souks and mosques spread around the city keep it tied to its rich Emirati culture and heritage.
