Don Omar, born William Omar Landrón Rivera, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor associated with San Juan, Puerto Rico. Also known as El Rey, King of Kings and Kong, he is a major figure in reggaeton and Latin urban music, working across reggaeton, hip-hop and Latin hip-hop.
He emerged through Puerto Rico’s developing reggaeton scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s, after appearing on compilation recordings and working with Héctor & Tito. His 2003 debut album, "The Last Don", established him internationally through songs including "Dale Don Dale", "Dile" and "Pobre Diabla". He followed with influential releases including "King of Kings", "iDon", "Meet the Orphans", "MTO²: New Generation", "The Last Don 2", "The Last Album" and "Forever King".
Among his best-known singles are "Reggaeton Latino", "Virtual Diva", "Hasta Abajo", "Danza Kuduro" with Lucenzo, "Dutty Love" with Natti Natasha and "Hasta Que Salga el Sol". He announced a retirement in 2017 but resumed releasing music in 2019. His honours include Latin Grammy Awards and numerous Billboard Latin Music Awards.
