Dermot Kennedy, born Dermot Joseph Kennedy, is a singer and songwriter from Rathcoole, County Dublin, Ireland. Blending elements of pop, rock, folk and hip-hop, he is known for a powerful, emotive vocal style and introspective lyrics that have earned him a global audience.
After early years busking on the streets of Dublin and Boston, Kennedy built momentum with songs such as "An Evening I Will Not Forget" before releasing the compilation "Dermot Kennedy" in 2019. His debut studio album "Without Fear" followed in 2019 and became a major chart success in Ireland and the UK. In 2022 he released his second album "Sonder", further cementing his reputation and giving him another UK number one. Notable singles include "Outnumbered", "Power Over Me", "Giants", "Better Days" and his feature on Meduza’s "Paradise". Recognition has included a nomination for International Male Solo Artist at the 2020 BRIT Awards and the RTÉ Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year for "Better Days".
