Buffalo Traffic Jam, often shortened to BTJ, is a Bozeman, Montana, duo made up of Frankie Cassidy and Nathan Ross. Rooted in the wide landscapes of the American West, they blend folk, indie folk, Americana, alternative rock and alt‑country into a warm, acoustic‑leaning sound.
Formed while studying at Montana State University, they moved from informal dorm‑room sessions to releasing their self‑titled debut EP "Buffalo Traffic Jam" in 2024, which introduced songs such as "Need to Go", "Rescue Me" and "Forgot Your Roots" and led to a deal with Arista Records. In 2025 they deepened their sound with the EP "Take Me Home", featuring the standout tracks "Comfort in Misery" and "Fool's Gold".
BTJ have since released singles including "Strangers Now", "Milestone", "I Don't Care", "Hanging on Hope", "Pictures of You" and "Too Young to Die", while selling out early headline tours across North America and Europe and appearing at major festivals. They announced their debut full‑length album "Pictures of You" in 2026.
