Big Thief are an American indie rock band formed in 2015 in Brooklyn, New York, United States. The quartet comprises singer-songwriter Adrianne Lenker, guitarist Buck Meek, bassist Max Oleartchik and drummer James Krivchenia. Their intimate, folk-inflected rock and exploratory textures have made them a leading presence in contemporary indie, noted for emotionally incisive songwriting and dynamic live performances. They release music through 4AD.
The band introduced their sound with the albums "Masterpiece" (2016) and "Capacity" (2017). In 2019 they issued companion records "U.F.O.F." and "Two Hands"; "U.F.O.F." received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album, while the single "Not" drew widespread acclaim and earned Grammy nominations for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. In 2022 they released the expansive "Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You", also nominated for Best Alternative Music Album.
