Time to fasten up your laces and get your swim caps on because Super League Triathlon (SLT) has announced its greatest ever Championship Series for 2021. As the pinnacle of the racing calendar, SLT attracts world-class triathletes from every corner of the globe to compete in the world's best racing in major destinations.
Falling after the Tokyo Olympics and before the World Triathlon Series resumes in Bermuda in October, SLT Championship will host 4 exciting events across back-to-back weekends. If you're a fan of triathlon racing, then September is going to be a momentous month for you!
With events reported to take place in London, Munich, Malibu, and Jersey, it's set to be a sensational series for the stars of SLT. The world's premier swim-bike-run series will be making its American debut in Malibu this year. Over 5,000 participants and 10,000 spectators are expected to attend the Malibu Triathlon on 25-26 September, at glorious Zuma Beach.
SLT CEO and co-founder Michael D'hulst, is optimistic that SLT will secure a spot in the U.S. sports market. He said, "Malibu Triathlon is a perfect opportunity for Super League to move into the USA and build our presence in a region that already has a strong affinity with our exciting and dynamic racing and the content that we offer."
Elsewhere, in London, racing will occur at West India Quay, at the Olympiapark in Munich, and at St Helier for the fourth time in Jersey.
Among those participating are the reigning Super League champions Vincent Luis and Katie Zaferes, who will defend their championship titles. Zaferes, a pro-triathlete and former Olympian, will battle it out against the likes of fellow British pro-triathlete Beth Potter. Potter won the Super League Triathlon Arena Games in London in April of this year and broke the unofficial 5 km world record.
The series, which has secured world-class athletes and iconic locations, is expected to bring more spectators and media broadcast opportunities for SLT. Michael D'hulst, confident that the championship will help elevate the profile of triathlon as a sport, said, "Super League Triathlon's 2021 Championship Series brings us closer to where the fans are, and this is what we are about – making triathlon a spectator sport."
In the past, SLT has attracted thousands of fans, world-class athletes, and Hollywood celebrities, such as Matthew McConaughey, Zac Efron, and J.Lo. May the 2021 Championships prove fruitful to the Super League and its all-star cast in the upcoming months.
