The Savannah Bananas are like no other sports team on the planet. Founded in 2016, it has taken the baseball-playing Bananas less than 8 years to gain a global following, selling out every home game the team has played in the process. Known for their kilts and choreographed dances as much as their hits and home runs, the Bananas’ antics have seen them develop into a self-styled “Baseball Circus” featured in the likes of ESPN and the New York Times.
With an eye on finding new ways to “make baseball fun”, the Savannah Bananas announced in 2022 that they would cease to play as a collegiate amatuer team in the Coastal Plain League, and instead operate as a full-time exhibition side. No longer constrained by standard baseball rules, the Bananas were now free to play only “Banana Ball” – their very own version of the sport in which players can be caught out by fans, bunting is banned, and games last a maximum of 2 hours.
In 2023, the Bananas embark on their biggest-ever World Tour, visiting 33 cities in 22 states. From California to Maine, thousands of fans across the nation will enjoy their first opportunity to see the Bananas live and in the skin. The inclusive ethos and laid-back nature of “Banana Ball” means that the whole family will find something to like when the world’s quirkiest baseball team comes to town.
Although the Bananas will be on the road for much of the year, the team is not forgetting its roots and will also play a full schedule of home games in “Banana Land” (Grayson Stadium, Savannah). Not only is Grayson Stadium the place where it all began for the team, but it is also home to one of the best deals in sport – all standard open seating tickets include all-you-can-eat hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, popcorn, chips, cookies, water, and soda.
