The Solheim Cup pits Europe (Ladies European Tour) against America (Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour), in an all-out show-down for two years of bragging rights.
The tournament started in 1990 and is named after Karsten Solheim - the founder of a golf equipment company - who developed the competition. The concept mimics the male’s Ryder Cup competition and has become the most prestigious team event on the women’s international golf calendar.
The 2023 tournament will be held between 18-24 September at the luxury Finca Cortesin resort, nestled in the Andalusia hills of southern Spain. With mountains to your back and the Mediterranean seat to your front, the location couldn’t be more idyllic.
Alexandra Armas, executive director of the Ladies European Tour, said “Spain is a country passionate about golf, its fans know this sport in depth and from its inexhaustible quarry have come generations and generations of great players. Furthermore, the Andalusian cultural legacy will make the players, guests and fans live a unique experience.”
Before the event returns to European grounds, the next Solheim Cup will take place in Toledo, Ohio, USA between 4-6 September 2021. The American team will hope to take the trophy from the European, who won 2019 edition with a spectacular putt on the last green of the last match.
2023 Solheim Cup ticket information will be released in due course.
