June is set to be jam-packed with top golfing action, and hot on the heels of the men’s calendar’s 3rd major, the US Open, comes the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship. Although we won’t quite be in the FedEx Cup playoffs, the Tour season will be starting to draw to a close by then, with the players fiercely battling it out to claim their share of any remaining prize money and FedEx Cup points on offer.
With 500 points and a share in a USD $20 million prize purse on offer to the winner, fans can expect a number of the sport’s biggest stars – many of whom will have been in action at the US Open the week prior – to make an appearance at the Travelers, which takes place between 19 and 25 June.
The tournament is popular with players and fans alike; it has won numerous PGA Tour awards in recent years, including the “Players Choice” award in 2017 and 2018, the “Most Fan Friendly Event” in 2010, 2012, and 2017, and the “Tournament of the Year” in 2017. Such is its popularity, it is typically the most well-attended event on the PGA Tour after the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
The 2022 event was won by Xander Schauffele, who finished 2 strokes clear of JT Poston and Sahith Theegala. Theegala had overtaken Schauffele at the death in the final round with a birdie on the 17th hole, but a double-bogey on the 18th – which Schauffele then birdied from 3 feet – put paid to his chances.
Fans hoping to witness a similarly dramatic tournament this year can now purchase their tickets. General admission Grounds tickets start at $65, while hospitality starts from $160.
