Tony Hawk is a living legend, a man whose career has made him synonymous with his sport. Skating professionally since he was 14, the Birdman has spent 4 decades creating new tricks, inspiring new skaters, and using his position to fund skateparks and children’s skating programs across the United States and the wider world.
From 12-15 May this year, Tony Hawk’s Weekend Jam will provide an opport unity for fans to celebrate that long and radical career in festival fashion. Over the course of the weekend, skating competitions will share the program with live music performances from bands like Modest Mouse, the Vandals, and Descendents. A video game lounge will offer fans the chance to take on classic titles together, in a tribute to Tony Hawk’s widely beloved “Pro Skater” gaming series. Adding to the excitement, skateboarding icons including Andy Macdonald, Busky Lasek, Christian Hosoi, and Sandro Dias will perform for the crowds, alongside younger stars of the sport like Lizzie Armanto.
The Weekend Jam begins on the Birdman’s 54th birthday, and Las Vegas will provide the perfect atmosphere to keep the party going. All events are set to take place at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) , a modern venue renowned for its masterful productions and its location in one of the liveliest parts of Sin City. With such a strong line-up of music artists, from DEVO to horror punk outfit Warish (fronted by Tony Hawk’s son Riley), as well as contests and awards for the best skaters, fans are sure to feel the spirit of celebration all weekend long.
Weekend Party Passes are on sale now for just $249, guaranteeing access to all the skating, music, and gaming events of this birthday spectacular.
