📜 Afghanistan Cricket Team History
Cricket has been played in Afghanistan since the 19th century. Still, it was only in 1995 that the Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) was established. The ACB became an Affiliate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001 and a Full Member of the Asian Cricket Council in 2003. In 2017, Afghanistan became the 12th nation to be granted Test cricket status by becoming a Full Member of the ICC. Although Afghanistan doesn’t have any major honours to its name, the team does hold the world record for the highest ever T20I score – 278/3 against Ireland in 2019.
