Quail Hollow Club Events

Quail Hollow Club hosts Golf 🏌 events. Over the years, the club has hosted a number of prestigious events; it has been the home of the Wells Fargo Championship event on the PGA Tour s ince 2003, and it also held the PGA Championship in 2017. Most recently, the Quail Hollow Club was selected to host the 2022 Presidents Cup.

Quail Hollow Club is located 15 km south of the centre of Charlotte. There are several event parking options off-site with spectator shuttles provided, and it can also be reached via several modes of public transport.

🚖️ Taxi

Taxi and rideshare drivers can pick up and drop off spectators by the tournament entrance on Gleneagles Road. Please note, personal vehicles will not be allowed to access Gleneagles Road.

🚍 Coach & Bus

Quail Hollow Club can be reached on public bus routes 19 and 20. Get off at Park Rd & Gleneagles Rd stop, which is 1.6 km (19 min) walk to the venue.

Spectators may also arrive via the complimentary Charlotte Convention Center shuttle. You can board at the Convention Center on E M.L.K. Jr. Blvd to ride to and from Quail Hollow Club at your leisure.

🚆 Train

Quail Hollow Club can be reached via the CATS LYNX Blue Line. Get off at Sharon Road West Light Rail Station, where a spectator shuttle will ferry you to the tournament.

Please note, parking at Sharon Road West Station is not available, and to access the spectator shuttles, you must present your rail ticket proving travel to Sharon Road West from another LYNX station.

🚴 Cycling

Cycling to Quail Hollow Club is encouraged and bike racks are located near the main entrance.

Quail Hollow Club is approximately a 3.0 km (36 min) to 4.0 km (48 min) walk if you live or are staying in the Quail Hollow, Beverly Woods, Mountainbrook, Montibello, Carmel, or Cameron Wood areas.

Quail Hollow Club Hotels & Accommodation

Charlotte is a relatively inexpensive city to visit, especially compared to some of the more touristy cities in the US like LA and Chicago. While there are plenty of high-end hotels for the discerning tourist and business traveller, most of its accommodation is affordable yet trendy.

📍 Where To Stay

As the CBD and banking capital of the USA, Uptown is a cosmopolitan and commercial neighbourhood with modern high-rise architecture. It’s home to some of the swankiest hotels on the market, as well as some of the city’s hottest clubs for those excited to experience its nightlife.

However, the city’s arts district, NoDa, takes the crown for nightlife and entertainment with an eclectic range of bars, clubs, theatres, and live music venues popping off all week long. Creatives will also love its bohemian atmosphere and thriving artisan scene.

While Plaza Midwood has just as much creative energy to offer as NoDa, it is less polished and more ideal for those on a smaller budget.

Stay in Dilworth, just south of Uptown, to experience the historic side of Charlotte. While most of its streets are quiet and quaint, you’re always just around the corner from trendy boutiques and restaurants.

South End has all the history and charm of Dilworth mixed with all the fun and excitement of Uptown, but with a hipster twist. From top craft breweries to hot art galleries, there’s plenty here to eat, drink, see, and do from your doorstep.

Elizabeth is a tranquil and relaxed residential neighbourhood located directly adjacent to Uptown known for its quaint bakeries, cafes, and restaurants. Families may enjoy the respite it offers from the busy city life without having to compromise on a central location.

The light rail train makes it easy to travel in and around Charlotte from any central location, but to explore the city at a more glacial pace, hire a bike from Charlotte B-cycle, its bike-sharing service.

About Quail Hollow Club

The Quail Hollow Club is a membership-owned country club and golf course, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Today, this world-class golf facility holds an esteemed reputation among golfers in the United States.

📜 History

The club was founded by James J Harris in 1959, with the course – designed by architect George Cobb – opening 2 years later. A clubhouse followed in 1967, and a further 2 years after that Quail Hollow hosted its first event, the Kemper Open. It would remain the home of that event until 1979, later hosting the PaineWebber Invitational from 1983-1989, then the Wells Fargo Championship from 2003 onward.

The course has been modified and redesigned on a number of occasions over the years to keep it at such a high standard, first by the legendary Arnold Palmer in 1986 and later by Tom Fazio in 1997, 2003, and 2014-2016.
