Newcastle is a pretty affordable city to visit, meaning it’s easy to find cheap and cheerful accommodation if that’s what you prefer. However, as Newcastle is not a glamorous city, don’t expect to find too many high-end hotels.
Newcastle International Airport (NCL) is the city’s primary airport offering regular international flights to and from major destinations throughout Europe…
Spend the day at Whitley Bay – head to the Newcastle coast for a day of windy beach walks, fish and chips, and perhaps a pub or two

A taxi rank is available outside Newcastle train station. It takes approximately 20 minutes to travel to the stadium by taxi from the station. It is possible for match day attendees to be dropped-off on roads close to the stadium, however long stays are strictly prohibited, and the roads are likely to be busy on match days; travellers should allow extra time for their journeys, and should seek to arrive early to minimise disruption.
The following bus routes stop close to the ground:
Train
Kingston Park Stadium is 15 minutes away from Newcastle train station by car, or 25-35 minutes by public transport: take the Tyne and Wear Metro's Green line from the station and alight at either Bank Foot or Kingston Park, or take the X47, X78, or X79 bus from Eldon Square, and get off on Windsor Way.
Metro
You can reach the stadium by using the Green line of the Tyne and Wear Metro, which stops at both Bank Foot and Kingston Park metro stops. Bank Foot is a 950 m (11 min) walk from the stadium, whilst Kingston Park is a 850 m (10 min) walk. Match day travellers who park at Callerton Parkway, Northumberland Park, or Heworth car parks can also make use of the Metro: Callerton Parkway and Heworth are both on the Green line, whilst Northumberland Park is on the Yellow line, with a convenient Green line connection available at South Gosforth.
It can take less than 30 minutes to cycle to the stadium from Newcastle city centre, and it is easy to plan a route which involves a stretch through the pleasant green fields of the Town Moor.
There are a small number of free bike racks at Kingston Park and Bank Foot park and ride car parks, located an 850 m (10 min) and 950 m (11 min) walk from the stadium respectively.
It is a more than a 6.5 km (78 min) walk to the stadium from Newcastle city centre, but if you are staying in the north of Newcastle it may be viable to make all or part of the journey on foot.
