River Oaks Country Club is located in the River Oaks area, on the east side of central Houston. It can be reached most easily by car and bus.

🅿️ Parking

During major events at the Country Club, drivers are encouraged to park in the designated areas on the side-roads off River Oaks Boulevard. Tournament shuttle buses and complimentary bike taxis which circulate the local roads will then be available to shuttle visitors to into the tournament site. The shuttle buses are also expected to be complimentary, but this has not been explicitly confirmed. Both types of shuttle operate from noon daily, until the conclusion of that day's matches.

Drivers should be aware that there are also some no parking zones on some of the side-roads; all road and parking signage should be respected.

Ticket holders with inclusive valet parking privileges (e.g. Season Package holders) should enter the River Oaks Country Club via River Oaks Boulevard; they will then be directed to the East Lot.

🚖️ Taxi

During events, a rideshare drop-off and pick-up zone is in operation directly outside the Country Club's main gates, along River Oaks Boulevard.

The River Oaks Country Club is a country club located in Houston, Texas, USA. It is the host of the annual US Men's Clay Court Championship tennis tournament.

📜 History

The River Oaks Country Club was founded in 1923. Though it is a highly exclusive haunt for some of Houston’s wealthiest and best-connected residents, the River Oaks Country Club has also opened its doors to the public, in order to host some major sporting events: in 1931 the venue hosted the inaugural River Oaks International Tennis Tournament, a tradition which continued until 2007, and between 1937 and 1946, it also hosted 4 PGA Tour golf tournaments, namely 3 editions of the Houston Open, and a single edition of the Western Open. In 1940, the tennis facilities were upgraded following several editions of the event.

In 2008, the River Oaks International Tennis Tournament merged with the US Men's Clay Court Championship, with the new event held at the country club ever since.

The River Oaks Country Club houses a golf course and several tennis courts, including a flagship show court, Stadium Court, which hosts the most high-profile matches during the venue's largest events, such as the US Men's Clay Court Championship. Stadium Court has a capacity of 3,500 spectators; the West Grandstand, located along the west sideline, is the main public seating area, though there are seats around all 4 sides of the court. At the US Men's Clay Court Championship, tickets for the West Grandstand are the most affordable on offer. The venue's secondary show court, Grandstand Court, can seat 500 spectators. At the US Men's Clay Court Championship, access to this secondary court is on a first-come, first-served basis, with entry included with the cost of a Stadium Court ticket.
