Mission Hills Country Club is located 9 km north of Rancho Mirage, California. It is also 14 km southeast of Palm Springs and 10 km southeast of Palm Springs International Airport. Mission Hills Country Club can be reached via public bus route 4. Get off at either Ramon at Braille Institute stop or Ramon at Rattler stop, which are 3.5 km (42 min) and 3.9 km (47 min) walk to the course, respectively.

🚶‍♂️ Walking

If you're staying in Cathedral City or Thousand Palms then you may be able to arrive on foot, provided you are prepared for a lengthy walk of around 6.0 km (72 min).

Head a few hundred metres north of Downtown to The Movie Colony, a serene yet hip neighbourhood occupied by the rich and famous. Stay in a cool mid-century modern villa or a vintage-glam hotel and spend time playing tennis or meditating in Wellness Park.

Sitting afoot the Tahquitz Canyon, west of downtown, the Historic Tennis Club also awaits to offer discerning travellers glamour, history, and sensational mountain views,

Families may prefer to stay in Rancho Mirage, just a few kilometres away, as it has plenty of family resorts and country clubs where the kids can play in the pool while the adults golf or enjoy the spa.

Palm Desert’s assortment of resorts and country clubs also make it ideal for families, but this city is more famously a designer shopping destination. The Rodeo Drive of the desert has stores from every big fashion brand, as well as top bars and restaurants.

La Quinta and Indian Wells, which lie further along the valley, are the most popular resort destinations for those in town to play some golf or tennis as they are home to an astonishing number of world-class golf courses and tennis facilities. These destinations are also popular with those looking for a wellness getaway thanks to their desert wellness retreats and proximity to nature.

Whether you’re staying in downtown Palm Springs or out in La Quinta, a car is always recommended as the desert sun is unforgiving. The Coachella Valley also benefits from the SunBus, which connects each city along it.

About Mission Hills Country Club

Located in Rancho Mirage, California, the Mission Hills Country Club boasts 3 elite championship golf courses, 27 tennis courts, as well as a spa and sports centre.

📜 History

The club was established in 1971, following the completion of its first championship course, designed by architect Desmond Muirhead; it would later become known as the Dinah Shore Tournament Course. The following year it hosted the Chevron Championship – known then as the Colgate-Dinah Shore Winner's Circle – for the first time. The event was the richest on the LPGA Tour and became a major in 1983.

Further courses designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer and renowned architect Pete Dye opened in 1979 and 1988, respectively.

The water hazard surrounding the 18th green on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course is known as Poppie's Pond, named after former Chevron Championship tournament director Terry Wilcox (known as "Poppie" to his grandchildren). In 1988, Amy Alcott jumped in the pond to celebrate winning the tournament for the second time, creating the tournament's most enduring tradition.
