Ski jumping is a winter sport in which competitors aim to achieve the longest jump after descending and launching off a specially designed ramp on their skis.
Since 1924, the Winter Olympics have included ski jumping, but the first women's event was added in 2014. In the latter half of the 19th century, Norway hosted the first competition in the sport, which then spread throughout Europe and North America in the early 20th century. It is one of the traditional Nordic skiing disciplines, along with cross-country skiing. The length of the jump, the competitor's style, and other factors can affect the final score.
For the 2026 Winter Olympics, the ski jumping events will be held in the Trentino region of northern Italy.
