All Longines Global Champions Tour events have been held as CSI5* since 2007, meaning that the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) classifies them as championship-level events. Classes are run under FEI rules but the governing body does not organise the events, so the LGCT is not an FEI series like the World Cup or the Nations Cup. The world's top 30 ranked riders along with wild card entries can participate in the series. Overall standings from the 15 rounds during the series determine the order of the riders at the Grand Prix competitions i.e. during the Playoffs at the end of the series.
The Global Champions League is an international team jumping series. Teams usually represent a city such as the Berlin Eagles, the London Knights, or the New York Empire and the series culminates in the GCL Super Cup during the Playoffs at the end of the series.
World-class facilities are purpose-built for the occasion and include a village and VIP area, restaurants, bars, shops, and more.
