Travelling to the stadium by car is possible, but is not necessarily recommended, particularly on match days: the roads around the stadium can become very busy, and parking both on-site and nearby is extremely limited. For visitors who must travel by car, the following paid car parks can be used:
Disabled spectators who wish to travel by car can use the stadium's on-site Mobility Parking car park, provided they have a recognised Mobility Pass displayed in their car. The Mobility Parking car park is accessed off Wrights Road.
It can take less than 10 minutes to take a taxi from central Christchurch to the stadium, however, taxis should be booked in advance on match days, as demand can be very high, both before and after events.
The following bus routes pass close to the stadium:
Christchurch railway station, the city's only remaining train station, is located just a 1.1 km (13 min) walk from the stadium. It is connected to nearby towns as well as some located further away, such as Dunedin, Invercargill, and Picton.
It can take as little as 10 minutes to cycle to the stadium from central Christchurch, and even less time from Addington and other nearby areas. There are bike racks located by the stadium's main entrance.
The Orangetheory Stadium is easily accessible on foot, whether you're travelling from within Addington, another nearby suburb, or central Christchurch. From central Christchurch it is a 2.8 km (34 min) walk, with the most direct route including a pleasant stretch alongside the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park South.
Although Christchurch is quite a pricey city when it comes to food and transportation, accommodation can come surprisingly cheap. While there are plenty of high-end branded and boutique hotels that are dressed to impress, the city is a hub for backpackers, meaning there’s a fantastic choice of cheap yet well-appointed hostels too.
Christchurch International Airport (CHC) is New Zealand’s second largest international airport with regularly scheduled flights from most major cities…
