The Open 13 Provence is an annual men's tennis tournament that is part of the ATP 250 tour. The event started in 1993, founded by ex-player and Marseille native Jean-François Caujolle. The number 13 represents the national geographic code for the region in which Marseille is situated.
Historically, French players have been most successful at this hard court tournament, surely helped by the enthusiastic home crowds. However it is not just home favourites who have made their name here: we also have the Open 13 to thank in part for Roger Federer's success – he reached his first tour-level singles final here in 2000, and never looked back!
