Although Hamilton isn’t one of New Zealand’s biggest or most-visited cities, it is one of the most expensive, beating Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington in world rankings. So while there are budget hotels and hostels available, don’t expect them to fit a shoestring budget. On the flipside of the coin, the city doesn’t offer many luxury hotels either as it’s not a very touristy city.
While food and drink options are available, the selection is quite limited. We recommend you bring some picnic food and refreshments with you. Especially if you are attending a Test match.
