A chilled day at the races is best enjoyed on the Open Course. The Bangor end of the Open Course has additional activities for kids to enjoy between races on family-themed fixtures, and admission to these activities is free. This enclosure is ideal for families since it provides a vast open space from which to watch the action on the track unfold.
The sloping grass bank creates a natural amphitheatre from which you can watch the race whether sitting or standing, and the on-site big screen will make sure you don't miss a second.
Throughout the day, bets may be placed at concession stands, and food and beverages may be purchased. Racegoers are permitted to bring a BBQ or picnic that includes alcohol (BBQs must not interfere with other racegoers' ability to watch because they will be inspected by officials). Dogs are also allowed in this enclosure, but they must always be on a leash and away from the track.
Gazebos are permitted within a specific area of the Open Course at the bottom of the car park against the side of the track in this area, at an additional cost of £10 per gazebo.
