The racecourse is best reached from junction 36 of the M6 via the A590. Follow the signs towards Barrow and Ulverston until you reach the turn-off for High Newton, where you will also see a sign for Cartmel Priory. There will be temporary yellow event signage in place from the A590.
Cartmel Racecourse has ample onsite parking for those driving to the event:
There is designated disabled parking within each enclosure (£10 per vehicle and allocated on the day) with Annual Member's Accessible spaces, Course Accessible spaces, and Paddock Accessible spaces. Please note this is not located on the running rail but within defined parking areas.
To encourage the message of "Don't Drink & Drive", drivers are permitted to leave their cars overnight in the car park. Please do not attempt to sleep in your car overnight. Your vehicle must leave by 12 midday the following day.
The racecourse welcomes coaches and minibuses free of charge in the coach car park only. Access to this car park is from Cartmel village. All coaches, minibuses, and camper vans should make the racecourse aware of their arrival in advance and coach party organisers should inform the Racecourse Office that they will require a coach parking space 5 days in advance of the raceday if possible. It is also advisable for coach parties to purchase tickets in advance.
The nearest train station to Cartmel Racecourse is Cark & Cartmel Station which is 3.6 km from the racecourse. The Travellers Choice provides a bus service between Cark & Cartmel Station and Cartmel village (which is just a 700 m (8 min) walk from the course) before the first race and after the last race.
Provision can be made for helicopters to land close to the racecourse, but permission must be sought in advance. Please contact the racecourse at least 2 weeks before the event on 015395 36340.
Cartmel Racecourse is located in Cartmel which has a small selection of pubs and eateries.
Lancaster is a small and reasonably priced city to visit providing both well-known hotel brands, independent bed and breakfasts, and short term rentals. However, the surrounding region, being extremely popular with tourists, can be expensive, especially during the summer months.
