Visiting Jakarta
Despite being situated on a small island in the Indian Ocean, Jakarta is the world’s second-most populous city after Tokyo. This ever-evolving powerhouse is a financial, technological, and engineering nerve centre in the Far East, making it a very invigorating place to be. While the city’s skyscrapers keep on climbing, the Old Town and historic port serves as a humbling reminder of Jakarta’s colonial Dutch roots. Meanwhile, the must-see national museums take you back to its astonishing ancient origins. When you’re not immersing in Indonesian culture on your visit to Jakarta, you’ll likely be partaking in the city’s favourite pastime- shopping. It’s hard not to when there’s a mega-mall tempting you at every turn.
