The Harlem Globetrotters are an iconic, globe-touring basketball team renowned for showcasing their dazzling skills, gravity-defying hijinks, and remarkable athleticism in exhibition games chock full of world-class family entertainment.
Created by Abe Saperstein in 1926 – then known as the Chicago Globetrotters – this mixed-gender team have been entertaining fans around the world for almost 100 years and have performed in 124 countries and territories to over 148 million fans.
The games are not fixed – the Globetrotters have been known to lose on occasion, although they win the vast majority of the time – but some aspects are pre-planned and their opponents do not interfere with the entertainment when the Globetrotters are on offense.
Since recruiting Olympic gold medallist Lynette Woodard in 1985, the Globetrotters have been a mixed-gender team.
