They play their home games at Ashton Gate Stadium.
Bristol City Women are a professional women's football team based in Bristol, England. They ply their trade at Ashton Gate Stadium, which they share with their male counterparts.
The club was formed in 1998 as the senior women's team for City's arch rivals, Bristol Rovers. Rovers merged their girls teams – which went up to under-16 level – with Welsh women's side Cable-Tel LFC in order to form a senior squad.
In 2005, they changed names to Bristol Academy amid increasing support from the Bristol Academy of Sport in the development of their players. The following year, they ceased to be affiliated with Bristol Rovers, who could no longer afford to finance the team having fallen to League Two.
A fallow period followed as the team struggled financially, but in 2011 they became 1 of the 8 founding members of the Women's Super League.
In 2013, Bristol City began sponsoring the team, prompting them to change their kit colour from their traditional blue to City's red, and 3 years later they officially became Bristol City Women. The team's nickname was changed from the Vixens to the Robins to closer align with their male counterparts.
The home venue of Bristol City Women is Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol. Away games will usually be played at the rival team's home venue.
