🧒 Child Tickets

Children aged 17 years and under are admitted free on all racedays at York Racecourse. Children aged 15 years and under must be accompanied by an adult into all public areas with a maximum of 2 children per adult.

There are discounted tickets available for certain enclosures at the racecourse for racegoers aged 18 to 22 years. Those requesting these concessions must provide formal supporting documentation: a UK driving license, government-issued ID card, or passport are acceptable.

👨‍🎓 Student Tickets

There are no discounted tickets for students and so a full-price ticket must be purchased.

🧓 Senior Tickets

There are discounted tickets available for certain enclosures at the racecourse for senior racegoers aged 65 and over. Those requesting these concessions must provide formal supporting documentation: a UK driving license, government-issued ID card, or passport are acceptable.

🪖 Military Tickets

There are no discounted tickets for members of the military and so a full-price ticket must be purchased.

👨‍🦽 Disabled Tickets

The County Stand has a raised-viewing platform for approximately 10 wheelchairs in front of the County Stand Lawn. There are specific disabled viewing areas on the first and second-floor balconies of the Ebor Stand and a smaller platform overlooking the Parade Ring.
In the Grandstand and Paddock, the Knavesmire Stand has disabled viewing facilities from a glass-fronted terrace on the first mezzanine floor. Whilst the Bustardthorpe Grandstand has stepped terracing with front access only, there is an ample area of level lawn to the front, by the running rail
In the Clocktower Enclosure, there is an open grassed enclosure that slopes down towards the running rail. It is possible to view the racing from an almost continuous vantage area which includes the Winning Post
Parties comprising of one racegoer who needs physical assistance to get around the course and an accompanying carer will only be charged for a single admission. This must be done at least 5 days in advance of the raceday you are wishing to attend

Venue Travel & Parking

York Racecourse is ideally located in the south of York with easy access to the city centre. The majority of racegoers choose to walk or get a taxi to connect to the venue from the centre, where wider national travel is provided by York Train Station.

🅿️ Parking

There is a plentiful amount of parking space at the racecourse. It is free to park here on all racedays.

Please be advised that some routes to the venue and parking are diverted on racedays to ensure an organised flow of traffic. There will be clear signs to follow on these days.

For County Stand and Grandstand and Paddock racegoers, there are designated disabled car parks on Knavesmire Road adjacent to the County Stand Enclosure and off Bishopthorpe Road, adjacent to the old factory, and are free to orange/blue disabled badge holders (follow signs for ‘C’ car park). For Clocktower Enclosure racegoers, there is a designated free disabled car park on Knavesmire Road (follow signs for ‘A’ car park). The disabled entrance to the Picnic Enclosure is some 80 yards away, across the running track.

🚖️ Taxi

York Racecourse is just a 5 min taxi drive from York city centre and York Train Station. You can easily pre-book a taxi or take one from taxi ranks in the centre or outside the station.

🚍 Coach & Bus

York Racecourse can be reached by shuttle bus service 197 linking the course to York Train Station. Return fares are £3.00.

From York Station - the shuttle buses operate from Stand RJ opposite the Railway Station entrance between 11:00 and 13:00
From the racecourse - the shuttle buses return to the Railway Station from Campleshon Road, next to the racecourse entrance, from 16:00 onwards

There is a coach and minibus drop-off and collection area within the Coach ‘C’ park, which is off Bishopthorpe Road to the south of the Terry’s Chocolate factory building. This will be clearly signposted from both the north and south of the course. Coaches and minibuses will not be allowed to stop on Bishopthorpe Road, Campelshon Road, Knavesmire Road, or outside the Terry’s factory, to drop off or collect racegoers. This also means that coaches/minibuses do not need to stay for the day but can return for the collection phase.

🚆 Train

York Racecourse can be reached via LNER, CrossCountry, Grand Central, Transpennine Express, and Northern trains with fast and frequent connections to London Kings Cross, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, and many other destinations. Alight at York station, which is a 2.3 km (28 min) walk to the racecourse.
