The colonial neighbourhood of Saddar is considered the cultural and touristic centre of Karachi, making it ideal for first-time visitors who want to thoroughly explore. Many of the city’s highlights are located here from Empress Market to Frere Hall. As the commercial centre of the city too, Saddar is also a shoppers paradise.

For a more local style shopping experience head to the Market Quarter and Bolton Market. Rather than fashion stores and chain food restaurants, find authentic handmade goods and home-grown produce.

As the original centre of the city, Kharadar and Mithadar will immerse you further into the city’s local history and culture. As they are less commercialised than Saddar, they tend to be much cheaper. These areas are also closer to the attractions along the seafront.

However, if you crave the beach and those gorgeous Arabian Sea views, stay in Clifton, Karachi’s favourite coastal neighbourhood. As the most affluent part of the city, this area is favoured for its high-end hotels and resorts, and upscale dining and shopping options.

Foodies might prefer closer proximity to Port Grand, Karachi’s flavourful waterfront food and entertainment complex. It’s also much closer to the action of the city centre than Clifton, which is a few kilometres further away.
