Since 1920, ice hockey competitions have been held at the Olympic Games. The men's tournament was first introduced at the Summer Olympics in 1920, but it was permanently added to the program for the Winter Olympics in 1924. The first women's tournament was held at the Winter Olympics in 1998. Olympic ice hockey used to only be played by amateurs, but now it's also played by professional players, so you might see some of the best players in the world.

For the 2026 Winter Olympics, the ice hockey events are split across 2 venues - PalaItalia Santa Giulia and Milano Hockey Arena both in Milan - with competition being held on each day throughout the games.
