Those interested in the city’s history and culture might prefer to stay in Historické jádro, Ostrava’s historic centre. It is thought of as the heart of the city, and loved for its traditional Czech buildings and cool cafes.

Party-goers, meanwhile, would feel more at home in Stodolní on the more modern side of the city centre, which is filled with bars and clubs which attract crowds every night of the week.

Jindřiška is a quieter neighbourhood immediately north of central Ostrava, half way towards Landek where the city’s major mining attractions are located. Staying here will allow you to get to all of the city’s attractions quickly and easily. It’s also close to Komenského sady, a beautiful park for families to escape to.

There’s also a number of hotels in Landek itself, which is just a couple of kilometres north of the city centre, for those who are most interested in exploring the city’s mining history.

If you want to explore further afield than Ostrava, stay in Jirská osada where the city’s train and bus stations are located. Both have good links to other parts of Czechia, including Prague, and Poland.

Alternatively, surround yourself with picturesque lakes, rivers, hills, and forests, by staying in a beautiful villa, chateau, or country house just outside of the city.

Central Ostrava is connected by a metro service that makes it quick and easy to explore the city from wherever you’re staying, but if you stay outside of the city, a car will be needed.
