Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area segmented into 4 concentric circles.
The sport has a long history in Scotland, dating back to the 1500s. Curling still uses stones that were traditionally made from the granite of Ailsa Craig, an island off the coast of Ayrshire in Scotland. Since 1998, curling has been a medal sport at the Winter Olympics, and every 4 years, it becomes an unlikely fan favourite every edition. Tournaments for men's, women's, and mixed doubles are currently included in the Olympic programme.
For the 2026 Winter Olympics, the curling events will be held at the Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
