Auckland Airport (AKL) has excellent international links to Australia, Europe, Asia and America. The airport is around 20 minutes drive to the South West of the city (around 45-60 minutes on public transport) and is easily accessible by bus, taxi, or shuttle.
Auckland has good coach links with other towns and cities in New Zealand. InterCity is one of the major providers, with a variety of other smaller providers offering services, some targeted at simple cheap travel for backpackers. Most coach services arrived and depart at the main terminus on Hobson Street.
Auckland Strand train station is located to the east of the CBD. It has connections to other towns and cities within the North Island, including the long-distance service to Wellington, which allows onward travel to the South Island.
As a city of harbours, it is possible to get an international cruise that stops in Auckland. Most international ships dock at Queens Wharf or Princes Wharf.
